The area
On the hill, at the mouth of the Silverado Trail
Alta Heights climbs the slopes on the eastern edge of Napa, with street layouts that follow the contours rather than a grid. Its elevation gives much of the neighborhood views back across the city and the valley floor, and it has a distinct feel from the flatter neighborhoods below.
It is an established residential area with its own elementary school and very little commercial development, which keeps it quiet. Residents rely entirely on the city below for services, and the descent into downtown is short.
The neighborhood's most useful characteristic for anyone planning treatment is its position at the southern end of the Silverado Trail. The Trail runs the length of the valley on the east side, parallel to Highway 29 but consistently quieter, and starting a journey from Alta Heights means being on it almost immediately.
That matters more than it sounds. Anyone who decides an up-valley provider suits them better has a genuinely easier trip from here than from most of the city.
Distances
Where the providers are
Alta Heights has the shortest run into downtown of the city neighborhoods covered here, and the best access northward.

Downtown Napa
Straight down the hill. The closest of the three Napa neighborhoods on this site to the downtown practices.

On the Trail
Up-valley providers
The Silverado Trail starts here. St Helena is a straight run north on a road that stays calmer than Highway 29 through the busy months, which makes an up-valley provider more practical from Alta Heights than from most of Napa.
-
15 min
North Napa
The retail corridors on the north side of the city, reached without crossing the busiest central streets.

Questions
Questions from Alta Heights
Is Alta Heights part of Napa?
Yes, it is a neighborhood within the city. Everything described on the Napa page applies, and anything advertised as being in Napa is a short drive.
What is the advantage of the Silverado Trail?
It runs the length of the valley on the east side and carries considerably less traffic than Highway 29, particularly on summer weekends and during harvest. Starting from Alta Heights puts you on it immediately, which makes an appointment in St Helena more realistic than the mileage suggests.
Should I look up-valley or in the city?
The city has far more choice and is minutes away, so it is the sensible starting point. The Trail access is a reason to keep up-valley practices on your list rather than a reason to skip Napa.
How do I compare options?
Being this central makes multiple consultations easy. Call (707) 207-8167 and we will point you toward licensed providers in the city and up the east side of the valley.
