Standards
What we hold ourselves to
- No medical advice
- We describe what treatments are and what providers generally do. We never tell a reader what they should have, and we never suggest that reading this site replaces an assessment by a licensed clinician.
- No guaranteed outcomes
- Words like guaranteed, permanent and eliminates do not appear as claims anywhere on this site. Where they appear at all, it is to deny them.
- No invented credibility
- We publish no reviews, testimonials, ratings, staff biographies, clinician credentials, addresses or before and after descriptions. None of these exist behind this site, so inventing them would be a fabrication rather than a shortcut.
- Hedged pricing only
- Prices appear as ranges for the local area, never tied to a named practice and never as a quote. Each range is anchored to a published national figure where one exists, and adjusted for the fact that this is a high cost of living part of California. Only a provider can quote you.
- Illustrations, not photographs
- Every image on this site is an abstract illustration, generated and then redrawn into our own palette. The plates on the area pages evoke the shape of the local landscape; they are not survey maps and are not accurate to scale. The treatment diagrams are schematic figures showing relative depth and sequence, not anatomical reference. There are no photographs of people, providers, premises or results anywhere on this site, and there will not be: we have no clinic to photograph, and a stock photograph of a stranger would imply one.
- Sourced, not asserted
- Claims about regulation, insurance, safety or typical cost carry a citation at the foot of the page. Where we could not find a citable source, we either hedge the statement explicitly or leave it out.
Sources
What we rely on
In roughly the order we trust them: United States federal regulators and agencies, California state licensing boards, national professional bodies for the relevant speciality, and disease-specific non-profit organisations. Where a figure is a national average rather than a local one, we say so rather than presenting it as local.
- The Medical Board of California, for who may legally perform a treatment here.
- The United States Food and Drug Administration, for what a product is approved to treat.
- The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, for national average procedure fees.
- The American Academy of Dermatology, for clinical description of skin treatments.
- The United States Census Bureau, for population figures on the area pages.
Maintenance
How often this is checked
Every page carries a Last reviewed date at the foot. That date means the page was re-read against its cited sources on that date, not merely that a file was touched. We review at least annually, and sooner when a source we rely on changes, for example a regulator updating guidance or a professional body publishing new fee data.
Prices move faster than regulation. Treat any cost range older than a year as indicative only, and ask at consultation.
Corrections
Telling us we are wrong
If something here is inaccurate, out of date, or misleading, we would rather know. Call (707) 207-8167 and say which page and which claim. Substantive corrections are made to the page and the review date is reset.
If you are a provider and something we have written about your speciality is wrong, the same applies, and we would rather correct it than argue about it.
Always consult a licensed provider to find out whether a treatment is appropriate for you.
